Computers today can quickly and accurately translate languages, therefore, it is a waste of time to learn a foreign language. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Machine learning like computers are common use as languages translator currently and it triggers that learn a foreign language is not worth it anymore. In my opinion, learn a world wide language is a benefit for people development as it still needed to communicate with people who speak certain language. I tend to disagree that master unfamiliar language is unfavorable.
There are several positive reasons of learning foreign language such as increase capability on mastering language to help us communicate with local people who speak specific language, get better price offer while visit some region and as a requirement to enter school’s admission or working abroad. I would like to give more explanation from each benefit of study new language.
First, increase capability on mastering language. We live in diverse people in society with different culture, ethnic and even language. For example in Indonesia, different region speak their own local language. Bataknese ethnic from North Sumatera will speak Bataknese language while Javanese people will speak Javanese. If we are able to manage that language, we can find different meaning and similarity from each word on that language and enrich our vocabulary on language. It has connection to the second reason: help to communicate. Some regions have specific language to speak and it helps us on talk to them in their language. While we speak local language it will easier to us on engaging and gain comfortability to new people. For example, tourist will get more expensive price while buying stuff in market while people who speak home-grown language can get better price offer. The last one is it helps us to be accepted on university or company with a license/certificate as an evidence that we have specific capability either speaking, listening, writing or even reading on that language.
Sum up of this writing is it is worth to have a good grip of new language especially while we want to have experience or get in touch with country or people from its region.
